For instance, a 4" thick piece of foam that requires 33 lbs. to compress it by 1" and return to 4" thickness has a compression rating of 33 lbs. or ILD - indention load deflection. All foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard. It is recommended to open the package with a ballpoint pen or pencil, making a small incision and breaking it from there. The foam is durable, lasting 7 to 10 years.
