For example, a 4" thick piece of foam that requires 33lbs to compress it by 1" and return to its full 4" thickness has a compression rating of 33lbs or ILD. It is recommended to avoid using a box cutter to open the foam, but rather a ballpoint pen or pencil to make a small incision and tear it from there. The durability of the foam is between 7 to 10 years.
