Compression refers to the number of pounds needed to compress a piece of foam by 25% and still have it bounce back to its original thickness. For example, a 4" thick foam piece requiring 33 lbs. to compress it by 1" and return to its full 4" thickness has a compression rating of 33 lbs. or ild (Indention Load Deflection). All foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard, and caution should be taken when opening the package to avoid damaging the foam.
