Compression refers to the pounds needed to compress a piece of foam by 25% and then return to its original thickness. For instance, a 4" foam piece requiring 33 lbs to compress 1" and bounce back to 4" has a 33 lb compression rating or ILD - indention load deflection. Foam sheets are sold per sheet, not per yard. It is advised to open the package with a ballpoint pen or pencil instead of a box cutter. Make a small incision and tear from there. The foam is durable, lasting 7 to 10 years.
